World Community Grid Statistics Q1 2020

Comments 0

I was always interested in the progress of the computing power World Community Grid can use. And while the numbers are available on the Global Statistics History page, humans are not especially gifted in processing raw numbers. So I made a chart from these numbers some time ago and updated it periodically. As others might also be interested in this, I will share it here.

I intend to update the chart quarterly and post it here!

Points and Run Time

First, here is a chart how points and run time developed over the years at World Community Grid:

Output of World Community Grid increased slightly in Q1 2020.

Run Time by Project

The second chart shows only run time, but seperately by project.

This are the noticable developments during Q1 2020:

  • Smash Childhood Cancer ended its pause and continued again
  • Africa Rainfall Project, increased its output, but still remains a small project
  • Fight AIDS@home 2 and Help Stop TB continue at very slow pace
  • Microbiome Immunity Project decreased its output to make room for Smash Childhood Cancer
  • Mapping Cancer Markers increased its output slightly
  • OpenPandemics, a COVID-19 related project was announced and is already in alpha testing. Once this project starts, I assume a large rise in WCG’s output due to the increased attention. The same happened at Folding@home and Rosetta@home
